ZAPATA FALLS

30 minutes - Zapata Falls is a 30-foot waterfall located in the San Luis Valley, near the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Colorado. It's situated on Bureau of Land Management land, adjacent to Rio Grande National Forest and south of Great Sand Dunes National Park.
MY BROTHERS PLACE

Alamosa - Fantastic pizza by the slice or the whole pie. Small little joint that also offers yumy desserts. Your order this and head to Spare Keg brewery for a brew and bite.
LU'S MAINSTREET CAFE

11 minutes - Incredible family-owned joint, with specials, drinks, and usually a craft beer on tap. Thursdays 5-7 they have live music. This place is walking distance near the RV park to refill the water jugs.
SAND DUNES RECREATION

Closed Thursdays for cleaning but a great place to soak in some mineral water. Recommend the Greenhouse for great food, drink, and a quieter vibe during the week. Great place to soak after an afternoon at the Sand Dunes and get a hot shower before heading back to camp.
UFO WATCHTOWER

Hooper - Fun little ET enthusiastic spot. 2 minute detour if you're heading to Sand Dunes Recreation Hot Springs.
WOODYS Q SHACK BBQ

Alamosa - Great BBQ in downtown Alamosa. Right down the road from a couple of breweries and perfect after a day of hiking.
BLANCA RV PARK

11 minutes away - This is the place to refill on propane, and gas, refill the 5-gallon water drums, and grab a hot shower. We haven't yet showered here but hear that they are clean. Only a few minutes up the road from the cabin and right around the corner (walking distance) from Lu's Cafe for a hot meal and a beer.
TAOS, NEW MEXICO

90 minutes - Take a day trip to Taos Pueblo - UNESCO World Heritage Site - see the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, shop in town square, hike or just grab lunch, beer at one of the local tap houses and breweries.
SAN LUIS, COLORADO

20 minutes - Visit the oldest town in Colorado, nestled in the San Luis Valley. A perfect stop on a day trip to Taos, NM.
